Men with Numbers Trying to Feel Special
People have an idea then try to rationalize that idea with their own strength and talent - see video (http://www.prophecy360.org/index2.html).
I think anyone's position is wrong at the outset when he or she starts with a claim that we can know when Christ returns; then says he is unsure after claiming a particular year, e.g. deciding that 2006 will be a year of great change instead. We can't know the when. We can never know the hour or the day of Christ's return; that is why we are to be accounted worthy and ready to escape the hour of trial of the Tribulation (Rev. 3.10, Luke 21.36) because the Lord will come like a thief to steal the best first at the first rapture.
When the day of the Lord approaches we can know the season, which means months away, but not the day. To know the season we have to have that season upon us. We can not know unless we are in the season to know. Christ could return at any time. The season upon is after the general prophecies are fulfilled like Israel returning to her homeland and many people taking the mark of the beast implant voluntarily. When Antichrist is close to making a 7 year treaty with Israel (when they are talking about it and many people are expecting this arrangement), Israel's Sanhedrin is set up, and they are in the midst of making sacrifices as the temple is being built (after the temple is completed there is 2300 days before the appearance of Christ). All the other days estimates and times estimates are uncertain, merely educated guesses. The last week is 84 thirty day months.
The only certainties are the ones I have described to you that I for one can be certain of. This takes humility not step where you do not belong. Other certainties are also evident when in the Trib: 1/3 of the people of the earth die in Great Trib (Rev. 9.18) and an army of 200 million machines (v.18) amass in the middle east over oil.
People love playing with the numbers and though they may be right, they are more likely wrong, giving the number of attempts that have failed through the centuries with than emphasis on their own time. Newton himself had perhaps a dozen different dates he was considering, even centuries from his own time, then settled on 2060, 1260 years from 800 AD when the RCC is said to have started with Charlemagne. Historicalism creates many faulty ideas as this, and premillennialists can make their own errors too.
Let us take the most humble position, then we shall not be deceived by false Christs.
