I've been talking to Mormons/LDS lots lately. I am trying to find out the psyche of why someone would want to believe that they always existed alongside God. What's with the non-Christian, non-orthodox obsession? Is it pride?
If you claim you always existed alongside God, aren't you exalting yourself higher than you really are as an equal spirit brother of Jesus or a Jesus that you bring down to your level, to rationalize your rejection of who Jesus truly is? Who is Jesus? He is created all things. Period. Only God creates all things. So Jesus is God.
Therefore, the atonement--the penalty the true Jesus paid on the cross to save us by shedding His precious blood--is not accepted by the Mormon. He rejects the ransom from the uncreated Creator, Jesus who is the 2nd Person in the Trinity, so the Mormon worships a false savior.
Not accepting the Trinity is the non-humble position to take. God wants our humility before Him to fellowship with.
Just as Satan, Adam and Cain rebelled, were independent and disobedient, Mormons are doing the same thing against the Triune God. They think they have outsmarted God, but in reality they are on the road to perdition.
You can talk to a Mormon for not just hours, but days even years and they will still not repent if they are locked into the cult. It will take a divine influence by God as God causes them to endure challenges in their life. He will use that to influence the Mormon to question his faith on his own. However, the Mormon is still free to reject even God's very best efforts to turn him, so most Mormons will not repent, just as most people in the world will not repent, and not receive Christ and that's sad.
Another way to see the unreasonableness of Mormons is to observe that if there was an infinite regress of matter/intelligences (whatever that means) alongside, by that definition, you would have had an eternity to come into being before now, so you should have already happened. This is the same argument used to prove atheism is false. So in a similar fashion what we are really disproving is atheism, but for Mormons we can call it supernatural atheism.
