All the brothers and sisters must take Christ as the center. Everything is for the gospel, everything is for service. We do not consider being Christian an avocation. In English there is a familiar saying: "professing Christian." But we each should be a "professional Christian," which means that we take Christ as our profession. The Lord demands us to deny ourselves for the sake of loving Him (Matt. 10.37-39). As was the Lord’s demand in the first century, so is His demand today. In the word of God there is no half-and-half person when it comes to being a disciple of Christ; there is only the absolute person.
"He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it" (Matt. 10.37-39).
