Jesus said He would return for the sake of the elect, otherwise everyone would die. Why is that? Is it because we will kill ourselves in a nuclear holocaust or is it because the parts per million of carbon dioxide are going to ever increasingly raise the temperature and change the content of the air we breath, or a combination of both? Rising waters are not enough to destroy us but could displace a lot of us. Was Jesus using a hyperbole? Or is there a level of carbon dioxide parts per million that is lethal?
I think the answer to my question is when we get to an extreme parts per million of carbon dioxide that is unprecedented and we are there now, the process is irreversible without God's divine intervention and that is what Jesus meant. This necessarily must involve the return of Jesus in person.
