Wholly molly, the movie Doubt is awesome, showing how sneaky the flesh can be, how cunning. There are people who will devise such a lie that it will blow you away when they get caught in the act (putting the boy's under garment in the locker).
Never be afraid to ask questions, for evidence, and proof upon proof. As soon as your intuition senses something wrong, investigate it. Don't leave it unchecked. If the person you are a questioning puts up a wall, don't buy into the idea you are being unloving for asking for details. That is the cover up. That's the rub. They put it back on you, when they are hiding something. Now even if they aren't hiding something, they are putting up a wall, thus being inconsiderate or insensitive, not putting themselves in your shoes, showing empathy about what your concern is.
And as soon as you hear an answer that seems on the surface to be reasonable, pray on it to ask again whether it satisfies your heart. Leave no stones unturned because it could be that one question you didn't ask or let slide that is the revealing one.
In this movie, the mistake was made of not asking the boy directly and directly asking the priest why the boy left the under garment and why he would take it and put it in the boy's locker instead of calling for the boy to come get it. Also, the principle was not wrong in lying to test to the priest even though she felt guilty or in doubt for doing so. Things are complicated but never so complicated if you ask the right questions and produce the right tests.
The annoying thing is why did the priest get promoted? The only explanation I can think of is to show how high up these corrupted priests go when they get caught in their position of even higher status.
Crazy world! Satan is the god of this world. Sin runs deep.
