Surrah 2:98
Allah is an enemy to all unbelievers.
The Koran commands to kill the infidel.
All believers take not Jews and Christians as your friends for they are one and the same.
Fight unbelievers who are near to you. Murder those who are of unbelievers.
How is this a religion of peace? Therefore, it must be of the Devil.

KORAN promises of houris in heaven:
Single-minded slaves of Allah... will be honored in the Gardens of delight, on couches facing one another; A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, white, delicious to the drinkers, wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. i am no fan of islam, but must take exception to the way we are arguing against it in this thread. taking verses out of context seems dishonest to me, as this very thing could be done with the bible and i know how i'd react to someone doing that.

You didn't show anything taken out of context, so unless you can show it aren't you sinning bearing false witness?

i don't know why i received an infraction for my post in this thread, as it seems nothing more than a misunderstanding. at the very least i should have been given the opportunity to 'correct' the supposed error, which i wasn't allowed to do.
by taking things out of context i mean simply that verses of the quran have been posted without its surrounding text, which can have a dramatic affect on how text is interpreted.
for instance, i could go through the bible, and in an attempt to portray it as a violent religion, select only those passages where violence occurs and post them, thus 'proving' christianity to be a violent religion. now, having read the bible, you and i would konw this not to be true, but to an outsider, someone unfamiliar with the bible, it might seem logical to conclude that, based on the scripture provided, christianity is indeed a violent religion.
technically speaking, anytime text is taken out of its greater, surrounding text, it is being 'taken out of context'. this is not necessarily a bad thing in all instances and serves a legitimate purpose at times.
i more than understand the question of bearing false witness be questioned, as it was obviously misunderstood. however, having explained my usage, and my usage being correct, i would expect this infraction to be removed.
sorry for the misunderstanding.

Since you made the claim the verses are out of context, the burden of the proof remains on you. Since you refuse to do so, you know why the infraction was warranted. Read Board Etiquette #6 (http://biblocality.com/forums/rules.php#rules). As the Bible says, prove all things.
