Writings (patrology), biographies (hagiography) of Church fathers (patristics); providing 129 facts about Jesus from 45 ancient sources, 17 non-Christian, e.g. Clement of Rome, Polycarp, Ignatius, Dionysius of Corinth, Tertullian, Origen; Josephus (Jewish), Tacitus (Roman), Lucian (satirist), Mara Bar-Serapion (highly regarded in British Museum), Talmud (important Jewish document).

129 Facts of Jesus Christ (http://www3.telus.net/trbrooks/garyhabermas.htm)

If you still don't think Jesus lived in person on earth then that issue can be tackled elsewhere. We have "129 reported facts concerning the life, person, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus, plus the disciples' earliest message. We have examined 45 ancient sources for the life of Jesus, which includes 19 early creedal, four archaeological, 17 non-Christian, and five non-New Testament Christian sources. Of our 45 sources, 30 record this teaching [deity of Jesus], which surprisingly includes seven of the 17 secular sources" [Historical Jesus, Gary Habermas, 250-251]. Jesus Himself said He was God (http://www3.telus.net/trbrooks/JesusGod.htm) with such titles as "Son of God" and "Son of Man" [Ibid., chapter 27].

"Of all the events in Jesus' life, more ancient sources specifically mention his death than any other single occurrence. Of the 45 ancient sources, 28 relate to this fact, often with details. Twelve of those sources are non-Christian, which exhibits an incredible amount of interest in this event. Not only is Jesus' death by crucifixion of major concern to these authors..." [Ibid., p. 252].

"Of our 45 sources, 18 specifically record the resurrection" [Ibid., p. 253].

Jesus fulfilled 62 prophecies from hundreds, even thousands of years prior. The odds of that happening is less than 1 in a trillion, scientifically speaking, determined by scientists. He said He was God and proved it. He was sinless - the only man who was ever sinless! He performed miracles none have been able to duplicate except the apostles. His teachings were deeper than any other. None can compare! He gave His life on the cross to die for you. And He was resurrected, seen by many eyewitnesses - including various writers of the books of the NT such as Matthew, Paul, Peter, John, James, and others. No less than 11 times was Jesus seen resurrected to various group sizes. Even one group had 500 people present. The brother of Jesus did not believe Jesus was God until he saw him resurrected after He died on the cross. Others (Mark and Luke) who were virtually first-hand accounts wrote books of the NT and testified to these teachings. There is one verse we suspect was Mark seeing Jesus before he died. Luke was close to the action also. They both went on missionary journeys with Barnabas and Paul.

There were many others mentioned in the Bible who were put to their death for faith in Christ (e.g. Stephen), spreading the Word and giving the Gospel. Then the apostles were all killed for their faith in Christ, admitting seeing Jesus resurrected. James, the brother of John, was the first to be martyred. Many others in the first century were mentioned who believed in Jesus and gave their lives to Christ on the cross, especially women. And many other biographies of martyrs in Christ are recorded from Christian writers in the first century as well as from non-Christian sources too.

Caesar Nero, or Neron Kaisar in Aramaic the language of Christ, killed thousands of Christians. That's why the letters in his name add up to 666, the mark of the beast (Rev. 13.18), which is the number of a man, who was one of the 5 Caesars, not the 6th (Domitian, 95 AD), who dies as the 7th, then will be raised as the 8th whom is the Antichrist (Rev. 17.10,11). He is the most evil man in history, even worse than Hitler. He will be here for awhile during the Great Tribulation of three and a half years (12.6) when 1/3 of the people of earth will die (9.18) in a very short period of time, when an army of 200 million machines are gathered in the middle east (9.16). After Christ steps down on the mount of olives at His return and appearance (Zech. 14.4, Rev. 1.7, Acts. 1.11), He will cast the Antichrist and the False Prophet in hell forever (Rev. 20.10), so that what will happen during the Great Tribulation could never happen again on earth.

If you doubt any of these truths, then the burden of the proof is on you.

CHRIST: THE FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY

Some time ago I had the opportunity to speak to a man who had no belief whatsoever in the Scriptures as any sort of divine revelation from God. He was a writer who was articulate and well-educated. While he was well-read, he was completely ignorant of any evidences for the truthfulness of the Christian faith and the Scriptures which reveal it. He said the Bible was simply a book written by men, just like any other book. I said, "That's very interesting. I would like to read some statements to you about someone and have you tell me, assuredly, without question, about whom I am reading."

He agreed and began to read:

"Those who hate me without cause are more numerous than the hairs of my head" (Ps 69.4)

The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers conspire together against the LORD and His Anointed One" (Ps 2.2)

"Even my friend in whom I trusted, one who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me" (Ps 41.9)

"Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered" (Zch 13.7)

"Then I said to them, 'If it seems right to you, give me my wages; but if not, keep them.' So they weighed my wages, 30 pieces of silver. 'Throw it to the potter,' the LORD said to me-this magnificent price I was valued by them. So I took 30 pieces of silver and threw it into the house of the LORD, the potter" (Zch 11.12-13).

"They are striking the judge of Israel on the cheek with a rod" (Mc 5.1).

"I gave My back to those who beat Me, and My cheeks to those who tore out My beard. I did not hide My face from scorn and spitting" (Is 50.6).

"They pierced my hands and my feet" (Ps 22.16).

"My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?" (Ps. 22.1).

"Everyone who sees me mocks me; they sneer and shake their heads: 'He relies on the Lord; let Him rescue him; let the LORD deliver him, since He takes pleasure in him'" (Ps 22.7-8).

"They gave me gall for my food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink'" (Ps 22.7-8).

"I am poured out like water, and all my bones are disjointed; my heart is like wax, melting within me" (Ps 22.14).

"Yet He Himself bore our sicknesses, and He carried our pains; but we in turn regarded Him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted" (Is 53.4).

"He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughter and like a sheep silent before her shearers, He did not open His mouth" (Is 53.7).

"They divided my garments among themselves, and they cast lots for my clothing" (Ps 22.18).

"He submitted Himself to death" (Is. 53.12).

"He bore the sin of many and interceded for the rebels" (Is 53.12).

"You may not break any of its bones" (Ex. 12.46).

"He protects all his bones; not one of them is broken" (Ps. 34.20).

"They will look at Me whom they have pierced" (Zch 12.10).

"They made His grave with the wicked,a nd with a rich man at His death, although He had done no violence and had not spoken deceitfully" (Is 53.9).

"For You will not abandon me to Sheol; You will not allow Your Faithful One to see the Pit" (Ps 16.10).

"You ascended to the heights, taking away captives; You received gifts from the people, even from the rebellious, so that the LORD God might live there" (Ps 68.18).

"The LORD declared to my Lord: 'Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool'" (Ps 110.1).

I said to him, "About whom did I read?"

He replied, "Well you obviously read of the life and ministry and suffering and death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth."

I said, "Is there any question in your mind about that?"

He answered, "No, that could refer to no one else."

I replied, Well then, I would want you to understand that all of the Scriptures I just read to you are taken from the Old Testament, which was completed some four hundred years before Jesus was born. No critic, no atheist, no agnostic has ever once claimed that any one of those written after His birth. In fact, they were translated from Hebrew into Greek in Alexandria some 150 years before He was born. If this is merely a book written by men, would you please explain to me how these words were written?"

He said, "I haven't the faintest idea." He was completely nonplussed. He had never heard those things before in his life. Indeed they cannot be explained by any purely humanistic presuppositions.

It is noteworthy that in no other religious writings in the world do we find any specific predictive prophecies like we find in the Scripture. You will find no predictive prophecies whatsoever in the writings of Buddha, Confucius, Mohammed, Lao-Tse, or Hinduism. Yet in the Scripture there are well over two thousand prophecies, most of which have already been fulfilled.

They are so specific in nature that they burn all the bridges behind them. IF they are not fulfilled, it leaves no room for excuse. How can these be explained? Of all the attacks that have ever been made upon the Scripture, there has never been one book written by a skeptic to disprove the prophecies of the Scripture. Though the Bible has been attacked at every other place, the one place where God rests His inspiration is that the things He foretells come infallibly to pass.

The Bible prophecies are altogether unexpected! I know of no one ever prophesying that any other human being would rise from the dead and be ascended into heaven. That is exceedingly improbable. The chance of it happening by coincidence is incalculable. No, the Bible is not merely a book written by men; it is a book written by God through men, and the heart of its prophetic message is Jesus Christ.

We have 11 early sources that the disciples willingly died for their testimony of having seen Jesus alive from the dead (The Case for the Resurrection of Jesus, by Gary R. Habermas).

No less than 9 ancient sources from an eyewitness, very early oral traditions dating within 20 years of Jesus' crucifixion, and several written sources testify that Jesus' disciples were claiming that he had risen from the dead and appeared to them.

"It may be taken as historically certain that Peter and the disciples had experiences after Jesus' death in which He appeared to them as the risen Christ." (Atheist New Testament Scholar Gerd Lüdemann, 1995)

The original disciples were willing to suffer and die for their belief that Jesus rose and attests to the sincerity of their faith, which strongly rules out lies on their part. (Sources: Luke, Clement of Rome, Polycarp, Ignatius, Dionysius of Corinth, Tertullian, Origen.)

"The credibility of the apostle Paul's testimony that he also had an experience that he believed was an appearance of the risen Jesus is recognized by virtually all scholars. Likewise well recognized is that James, the brother of Jesus, was an unbeliever before he thought that he, too, met the risen Jesus. Seldom are any of these occurrences challenged by respected critical scholars, no matter how skeptical." (Gary Habermas, Liberty University, 2003)

The church persecutor Paul experienced an immediate change from a persecutor of the Church to one of its most aggressive advocates. He said the change was because the risen Jesus had appeared to him, and he willingly suffered and died for that belief. (Sources: Paul, Luke, Clement of Rome, Polycarp, Tertullian, Dionysius of Corinth, Origen)

Almost all skeptical scholars testify Paul wrote 1 Cor. 15, Gal. 1 & 2 in which he said the creed he received of the resurrection of Jesus, he received from Peter, James and John whom he met personally.

The skeptic James, the brother of Jesus:

A. Prior to Jesus' resurrection, the brother of Jesus named James was a skeptic (Sources: Mark, John).

B. An appearance of the risen Jesus to James is reported within 5 years of Jesus' crucifixion (Source: 1 Corinthians 15:7).

C. James became a leader of the Church in Jerusalem (Sources: Paul, Luke).

D. James willingly died for his belief that Jesus was the Messiah (Sources: Josephus, Hegesippus, Clement of Alexandria).

Israel the Center of All Nations

Isa 52:7 How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”
Isa 52:8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
together they shout for joy.
When the Lord returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.
Isa 52:9 Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.
Isa 52:10 The Lord will lay bare his holy arm
in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see
the salvation of our God.
Isa 52:11 Depart, depart, go out from there!
Touch no unclean thing!
Come out from it and be pure,
you who carry the vessels of the Lord.
Isa 52:12 But you will not leave in haste
or go in flight;
for the Lord will go before you,
the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
Isa 52:13 See, my servant [Jesus] will act wisely;
he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted. (Is. 52.7-13).

Zec 14:16 Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
Zec 14:17 If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, they will have no rain.
Zec 14:18 If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The Lord will bring on them the plague he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
Zec 14:19 This will be the punishment of Egypt [representing the highest leaders of the world] and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
