What is meant by the latent power of the soul? And why refuse it?

Before man fell into sin, God gave Adam great responsibility over all the earth and all the animals, but when man sinned everything became corrupted and sin lead to death; yet, man still had a residual of that great responsibility before God over all the earth, though he had forsaken all rights before God when he sinned. This is the latent power of the soul.

Christians refuse the latent power of the soul because of it becoming corrupted. Spiritists try to recapture this power, but in so doing, they are attempting to do it independently of God and by their own strength, might and soul power. This is very displeasing to God because of the corruption of the flesh.

It would be similar to a football star trying to recapture their glory despite all the injuries, with all kinds of illegal drugs. Under normal circumstances they should retire, but they can't let go of the past, so they seek unethical means to recapture that glory.

The solution is the cross.
