Matthew 9.36
"Moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and scattered" - The Lord shows no sympathy towards sins, for sins must be redeemed by His blood. He is only moved with compassion towards their distress and "scatteredness". So our Lord not only deals with sin, but also shows mercy towards our distress. God sends Him to be Savior because of our sins; He additionally sends Him to be the friend of sinners because of their distress.
