President Choice
If you buy gas without the World President's Choice M/C, but insert your Optimum card when you buy gas at the Mobile President's Choice Gas Station, you receive 35 points/L (aka 3.5 cents per Litre).

If you pay with your World President's Choice M/C (linking it to your Optimum card), you get 70 points per Litre. World M/C also gives you 20 points/$1 in store including at the Mobile President's Choice Gas Station or 10 points/$1 if another store.

To adjust the 20 points/$1 to a Litre basis take 20/1 * 1.40/L = 28 points/L. We are assuming fuel costs $1.40/L.

The total points, therefore, comes to 70 + 28 = 98 points/L or 9.8 cents/L. 9.8 cents/L divided by 1.40/L = 7% discount to the fuel price.

Esso also offers President's Choice M/C 2 cents per $1 spent but that can't compete with the Mobile Gas Station.

You can redeem your Optimum points every 10,000 points for $10. Optimum card alone without paying with a President's Choice M/C in store don't give much unless you find a discount in the store that the Optimum card can be applied to.

Petro-Canada
If you link your RBC M/C (2% cash back card, non-points reward card) you get 3 cents/L, plus 20% more Petro reward points. Currently Petro-Canada gives 10 points/L plus that 20% increase for a total of 12 points/L of Petro points or 1.2 cents. You don't get the 20% more points on the M/C offered with RBC because because we are not using a Rewards M/C.

You can also link the Hudson Bay Reward Card, CAA card and the More Rewards Card. Assuming you don't buy the CAA card which costs $80, you get an additional 20% Petro Points for HB and 20% for More Rewards. That's a total of 16 points of (12+4 points). After linking them, all you need to do is pay with your RBC World M/C because it is linked to your Petro Card which in turn is linked to these other cards. You can redeem Petro points every 1000 points or $1.

3 cents/L (immediately shows up as a discount on your bas bill) + 0.016 points/L (or 16 points) = 4.6 cents/L.

With the cash back M/C you get 2% per $1 spent. 2% for every dollar spent * 1.4/L = 2.8 cents per Litre.

2.8 cents/L + 3 cents/L + 1.6 cents/L = 7.4 cents/L. 7.4 divided by $1.40/L = 5.3% discount off the fuel price.
