The fire of Hell is figurative, because unlike a natural fire that eventually burns out, the fire of Hell never does. This is very good reason not to believe that Hell is an actual physical fire, but is an actual physical place. As we need to lock up some people in jail for life, the unsaved need to be locked up in Hell for eternity. As it is in heaven so it is on earth. There is no physical fire in prisons.

God is not a sadist so the fire is a fire of judgment. He uses such expressive language so that if you don't respond to His love, you might respond to His judgment.

The Devil is a real being and so are the angels. They are never figurative. Are you saying you think they are not real beings?

In your profile you suggest that you are a Christian, but that appears not to be the case given your stance on Hell, Satan and the angels. What Christian believes angels are merely allegory or hyperbole and Hell is just a blazing pit of physical fire. That's absurd!

Hell is the perfect place designed by God for those who eternally reject God. It's the perfect eternal prison for the unregenerate.

Webster's defines a Christian as somebody who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

According to Webster's; in order to satisfy the definition of a Christian; one need not comply with the teachings of Jesus Christ; one need only profess to believe in them.

Webster's definition doesn't take into consideration one's interpretation of Jesus Christ's teachings. So as long as people believe in his teachings, even if it's only their way of believing; then they qualify to wear the label.

His teachings are not non-OSAS for example, so Roman Catholics are not saved, since they refuse to repent and believe in Christ to be kept. They claim tomorrow in their salvation they can lose it. This shows they were never born-again to begin with.
