From Jews to Gentiles to Jews

Matt. 10.23 To “flee” (not “resist”) is a principle for Christians to follow when under persecution.

“Till the Son of man be come”—This cannot be applied to the coming of the Son of man before His disciples have at that time gone through all the cities of Israel, because when the twelve apostles were sent out to preach the gospel at that particular time, instead of being persecuted they were popularly followed by many people. And hence, this verse remains historically still unfulfilled.

The situation here appears to be quite similar to that found described in Matthew 24. This must therefore advert to the period of the Great Tribulation.

Here for the first time the Lord sends forth the disciples to preach the gospel of the kingdom to the Jews.

But after His resurrection He sends them out to preach the gospel of grace. And when the fullness of the Gentiles shall come in, then all Israel shall be saved and will enter the millennial kingdom (Rom.11.25). The order of God is accordingly from the Jews to the Gentiles and back to the Jews.
