I do not believe 2 Cor. 5.1-8 says what you claim it says. People still go to rest when they die to hades (Abraham's bosom if saved, bad side of hades with the Rich Man if unsaved). That's why 1 Thess. 4.14-18 says we will be raised together at the end of this age if saved, because we were asleep in Hades (Sheol) or what the Jews called Paradise Below in contrast to Paradise Above. In facts, Acts 2.34 says not even David a man after God's own heart is in heaven yet.

Man is spirit, soul and bod (Heb. 4.12). Man's spirit can't go to heaven without a body because man is a living soul with a spirit and body. When God breathed in the breath of life directly creating man's spirit, it made contact with the body to form the soul out the spirit and body. Therefore, 2 parts of man can't be in one place while the 3rd part in another. That's weird.
