Coptic is the native church in Egypt, isolated from the rest of Christendom since 451 when it maintained the Monophysite doctrine condemned by the council ant Chalcedon in Asia Minor. Monophysite is a false teaching that Christ in the flesh was only one nature of partly divine and partly man subordinately, rather than both fully God bodily and man (these being two natures).
