"Allah commands that any person who leaves Islam or encourages others to do so, should be seized and slain." (Surah 4:89)
This is unlike what Israel was to do in Canaan, because Canaanites were practicing human sacrifices. And if someone who professed to believe in Christ renounces his faith, he is free to walk away with no fear of being seized or slain.
