Remember Malachi 3.6 when you make a promise to someone: "In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. [He that] sweareth to [his own] hurt, and changeth not." (KJV)
Ok that's confusing English.
The NLT reads, "Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the LORD, and keep their promises even when it hurts."
"He who does these things will never be shaken" (v.5).
You may make a promise to do something and be somewhere a certain day, but when that day arrives and you don't feel like it, you need to do it anyway even though it's the last thing you want to do.
