The reason it is a new song is two aspects:

1) the Lord newly died so men are redeemed,

and 2) 144,000 are brought home first,

I agree with you the 144,000 comes from 6000 x 24. That makes sense. But in terms of Jubilees, the 120th Jubilee would have to be the start of the 7 year Tribulation, since the parousia of Christ commences with the start of the Tribulation.

Adam would have been born 4004 BC, kicked out of Eden 3986 BC. 3986 - 1 + 2015 = 6000 years. Where have the 6000 years been completed? The next Jubilee is 2015.

Would you call the past 2000 years a millennial peace? Revelation 20.3 says, "he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season." We still hear about wars and rumours of wars.

Would you call the last 2000 years a peace?

Daniel 9.24 says, "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy."

Where has there been an end of transgressions and sins; reconciliation and everlasting righteousness; the 7th seal opened; or the Temple in Jerusalem to annoint?

When I think about the 144,000 being derived from 6000 years it's telling me the completion, consummation and pinnacle is reached with the number of 144,000; that is to say, once God finds His 144,000 virgin firstfruits believers (Rev. 14.1-5) then the first rapture takes place according to readiness (Rev. 3.10, 12.5 at 7.9 "before the throne"). That is not to say there are only 144,000 saved.
